The entire team at S4 Financial threw themselves in at the (muddy) deep end when they took part in a hardcore obstacle course together.
Everyone – from investment director to paraplanners to administrators – got stuck in to haul themselves and each other to the finishing line in 90 minutes at the team building event in September.
Created by Tough Mudder, the 5K course at Holmbush Estate, Faygate, West Sussex, is known to be a “mud festival where everyone is covered in filth, laughing and relying on complete strangers to drag them over a 12-ft wall”, states the organiser’s website.
The S4 team tested their strength, stamina and mental grit through dense forest trails and heavy Sussex clay.
“I found it really tough but thoroughly enjoyable and was surprised by how much you rely on others to get through the obstacles. It was a great experience and one we’ll have plenty of memories from,” said S4’s John Dean, Financial Planner.
All Tough Mudders around the world are designed to push participants out of their comfort zones. Each course is 5-15K long and interspersed with challenging obstacles. Usually they involve running for one mile and then facing an obstacle and running another half mile and facing another.
S4’s Tracey Woodage, Administrator, said it was fun day with plenty of laughs and Kyle Francis, Trainee Paraplanner, enjoyed overcoming physical challenges with his colleagues.
Yvette Anthony, Paraplanner, said: “It was a fantastic team-building day. It was great fun, brought everyone together and certainly involved more mud than any of us expected!”
Diane Wagland, Finance/ HR Manager, added: “It was a brilliant event and more importantly a real chance to team build in an informal setting, allowing everyone to shine in their own way.” Watch this space to find out what they get up to next!
